Over the years, many writers have asked if I'd take a look at their manuscript. The answer is yes, I often can.* In fact, I offer comprehensive coaching/editing services.
Here are the areas where I can help you most:
For an idea of the sort of in-depth assistance I provide, please download this query letter by novelist Will Sander. It shows how I typically "mark up" manuscripts, offering assistance in the areas of grammar, punctuation, format, and style. I also offer advice about concepts, marketing, and the best way to get published.
In short, I hope to make you the most successful writer you can be.
Choose How I Help You:
Method 1: As literary agent Noah Lukeman writes in The First Five Pages, if an agent likes your query, he or she typically only reads the first five pages of your manuscript or proposal. This may seem unfair until you realize these pages are indicative of your writing as a whole. Problems found in the first five pages of your manuscript will certainly be found throughout your entire work.
With this in mind, I will edit and comment on the first five pages of your double spaced manuscript or proposal for a flat fee of $60. Then, take a look at my edits and use my comments to make corrections throughout the rest of your manuscript. This is a great way to go if you have plenty of time and want to pay less for Method 2 later. (The fewer edits I need to make to a manuscript, the faster my editing goes, the more manuscript I can comment on while charging my hourly rate.)
Method 2: This is the traditional way to obtain an editing session. I will edit and comment on your complete manuscript for $40 an hour. This method is good if you have a short piece (like a query letter) or if you want one-on-one coaching for your entire manuscript.
All coaching takes place via email. Fees are payable through PayPal.
Questions? Please email me with the words "COACHING/EDITING" in the subject line; I can usually get back to you within 24 hours.
If you'd like to schedule coaching/editing time, please email me with the following:
Within a week's time, I will reply.
* Please note: I'm not always able to say "yes" to everyone, as my own writing deadlines sometimes interfere.
